Aquilón
Aquilon, the god of the North wind, is the son of the god of the winds Aeolus and the goddess Aurora. In Greek mythology he is represented as a winged old man with beards and disheveled hair, wearing a tunic of clouds.

To turn academic knowledge into innovative veterinary products by creating sustainable alternative methods to improve animal productivity and disease control, reducing or even eliminating the use of antibiotics.
Our vision
To provide documentation, guidance and methodology in the management and execution of projects aimed at improving animal health and productivity, in collaboration with public and private research centers throughout Europe.
Who we are
Aquilón Cyl S.L. manages technology-based projects. The company was founded in March 2012 thanks to technologies developed at the University of León (ULe) and the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB).
The company was founded as a result of the interaction between the Department of Infectious Diseases of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the ULe and Spherium Biomed www.spheriumbiomed.com (technology licensee of the UAB).It owes its existence to to the strong financial support of the Fondo Tecnológico Seguranza promoted by the Regional Government of Castile and León and managed by Clave Mayor.
Today, Aquilón relies on a multidisciplinary team of permanent staff, supported by specialists in animal health and production, regulatory affairs, marketing, business administration, sales, manufacturing and finance.
What we do
Aquilón offers a management model based on variable costs, focused on bringing the intellectual property (IP) it obtains from public and private research centers to a stage of maturity (TRL) that provides added value to the pharmaceutical, animal health and animal feed industries.
Each project has its own external subcontracted teams that cover the areas of expertise necessary for the execution of the project.
In addition, the company markets autogenous vaccines against swine dysentery and provides, develops and manages a portfolio of diagnostic services for porcine enteropathies.
Where we are
The company is located in the Campus of Vegazana, at the University of León. Its main office is located in the building of the Institute of Molecular Biology, Genomics and Proteomics (INBIOMIC) while the R&D and diagnostic laboratory are located in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, in the facilities that Aquilón has contracted from the Department of Infectious Diseases.
Finance and Strategic Management are located in Barcelona.
